i remembered this particular conversation i had, wayyyy back. it's like a dejavu that repeats itself during balik kampung time, or whenever i bumped into ex schoolmates. yes, taxi drivers had their share too.

~hah, wat pe skarang nie? belajar lagi ke?
> tak, dah kerja dah...
~ kerja apa?
> cikgu!
~ oh...cikgu...senang laa ye, keja setengah hari je.
> ehhh...mana plak, duk balik petang je, keja pun banyak, uruskan hal-hal lain pasal budak lagi...
~ takpelah, cuti pun banyak. gaji jalan.
> ye ke, setakat nie tak pernah lagi cuti duk rumah sesaja. kadang-kadang budak-budak ada latihan kokurikulum, kena jaga peksa, pegi kursus...
~ oh gitu ke...
> .......
~ ajar subjek apa?
> pendidikan seni...
~ hmm! lagilah senang....!!!
> hah? senang ke?
~ yelah, suruh je budak lukis apa-apa...
> [kepala ***** anda...]

adoiii...if it really was that easy, please be in my shoes now.

i don't blame anyone who simply thinks being a teacher is such an easy task - particularly, being an Art's teacher. it's just the surface you've seen, not deep into the violently cold, murky water.

lagilaaa jadi Art teacher. taken for granted. kids hardly focus because to them, it's just an optional subject. to fail the subject is nothing.

yes, i don't mind if YOU scored bullseye "A" for the major papers honey. or at least a dumb "D". you're not focused, you're not sure why your parents keep sending you to school even after four AkuJanji forms signed, suspended from school after numerous action-packed fighting in or outside school premises, and your class teacher opt for you to be expelled from school because you're foul-mouthed and your middle finger is so expressive.

heck, this is the path i choose. being a teacher is NOT a last option for me after failed job-huntings.

blame it on the genes - my abah was a teacher, and he teaches still, only to a different audience, and he's my Mentor, always.

izyandarling: "kak fairuz, akak mmg minat jd cikgu ye? bukan senang ye jd cikgu ni. esp skrg ni lagi mcm2 kerenah. larat eh akak menahan kerenah dorang..."

and izyan darling, yes, u should agree wif d famous quote ~ "alah bisa tegal biasa".

newspapers nowadays were so bombarded wif educational issues, be it on the Ministry, the teachers or the students [and overprotective parents along]. school institution being mocked and teachers are pressured. students arrogance and parents pointing fingers.

..... and in another place, another time, only recently >>

and i wanted to be a teacher, still.

what doesn't kills us DOES, makes us stronger! =)
